Balcombe stretches from the famous Ouse viaduct in the South up to the forest ridges in the North and West, and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. This village of 600 houses, some very old, lies conveniently on the London to Brighton railway line, and is close to Gatwick airport. With its wide range of facilities, clubs and associations, Balcombe is well managed by a forward thinking Parish Council.

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations 2-5th June

Ideas and volunteers wanted to organise village celebrations for this milestone in history!
2 things initially come to mind:
A band/dance/reception – like last year, Saturday 2nd June is under way.
It would be fantastic to join the rest of the nation in Balcombe's version of the "Big Picnic" on Sunday 3rd June. See http://www.thebiglunch.com
Are any organisations or volunteers willing to be involved in making it happen?
For further details of the Official Celebration weekend see http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Nl1/Newsroom/Features/DG_WP200687
Please contact Nicky Evans 01444 811708 or nicky.evans@btinternet.com if you would like to help make it happen.

Child Minding

There is a need for childcare in the village for those parents who work or want to work. Would residents be interested in a web page where they could see if there was anyone who wanted to share care or anyone who had spaces could let people know?
