Minutes of meeting 23rd March 2005 at CR’s House

Present : Caroline Rix, Julie Turner, Sarah Francis, Jonty Rix, Leonie Dolly-Sparkes, Sandra Kirkman,  James Peck, Alina Greetham, Jackie Burke, Sarah Pell

Apologies: Chris Napper

Minutes of last meeting: Agreed.

Xmas Bonus – this was not considered a priority at this time

Contracts – all finalised and sent out to staff.

Matters arising from previous meeting:

T-shirts for the children – SP to do poster for new parents

Staff to decide on colour for their sweatshirts and to let SP know

Digital camera – need one with a larger screen than usual and one that is sturdy enough for the children to use.  Needs to have rechargeable batteries and limit is £200.

Insurance – JP to check insurance policy to see if covered for individual items of a certain value.

SP has photo imaging software and photo printer and is happy to help with the processing of the pictures.

CR thanked everyone for their help with the last fundraising event.

Staff training: Everyone has now done pediatric first aid and behaviour training.  Staff feel more cohesive.  Observation and record keeping training has been undertaken.  Tracey & Vanessa have done the Bringing Foundation Stage Alive training.

Staff matters: Rebecca has left.  Sue Cannon has started.  There are 2 sessions left open, these can be filled by a parent helper.  Special thanks go to Sarah Manthorpe who has worked hard to help out.

Finance: Balcombe Primary is changing their part-time sessions from the afternoon to the morning.  This means that Tiggers would lose a lot of children in September.  The committee raised the question of possibly holding an afternoon Tiggers session – this will be discussed at the next meeting.

Garden project:

All committee members to read the feedback from parents handout.  Balcombe estate has said that they would require details in writing but they have mentioned that they do not envisage any problems.

It was identified that it may be a problem getting funding for development on privately owned land.

Getting feedback from the children – parents to be asked to make notes on what their children like to do and what play things they enjoy when they are out and about.

Committee skills: Brainstorm all our skills.  Each committee member should be assigned a job – this will be expanded on at our next meeting.  CR wants to spread the workload and information which will ensure that not only one person knows everything that is going on.

Policies and Procedures: All committee members to read the handout on Developing Social Skills – Policy and Practice.  Comments and corrections to be noted and sent back to CR after the Easter holidays.  All committee members are required to sign off the policy.

Fundraising:

Sponsored walk – this has always been a good money raising event so we should continue with it.  Date to be arranged for early June.  SF to liaise with CN.  JP to produce the sponsor forms to ensure that the Gift Aid option is clearly visible and instructions are provided.  SF to contact the Middy to discuss coverage/photo.

Summer Fete – 2nd July.  CR, SP & SK to organise.

Ideas suggested are:

Egg catching – JR to arrange

Number of sweets in the jar

Slowest cycle ride

Throw the carrot

Area for kiddy toys – trikes, cars etc

Bouncy castle

Lunch boxes

Balcombe School Summer Fete – CR to check date.  LDS suggested cakes, buns, pies as never enough provided.  Guess where Timmy Teddy has been on holiday.  SF to ask her sister if she would donate a Tiggers cake for a prize.

Date of next meeting: Wednesday 11th May 20:00 CR’s house

AOB:

Cleaning – this is done for 1½ hours on Sunday only.

Parish Rooms fundraising – Tiggers will man a table in support of this on 14th May.  JB & CR to organise.
