COPY FOR PARISH MAGAZINE OCTOBER 2006

NOVEMBER 2006

Balcombe Pavilion

Vandalism continues.  The down pipe from one of the gutters was torn off recently & there have been reports of youths climbing on to the roof.  Additional security measures are being introduced.  You have been warned!

Street Lighting

The usual “night scout” has now taken place.  To ensure that all lights continue to work satisfactorily please continue to report any problems, either direct to SEEBOARD (01273 432386), or via the Clerk, in the usual way.  Location of the light together with the reference number (always a self adhesive alphabetical yellow label) must always be quoted.

Drought Update

Regrettably the hosepipe & sprinkler ban continues.

Freighter

Next service is planed for 26 November.  Collection hours remain 10 am to 12 noon.  There will NOT be a December collection.  The next will be on 21 January 2007.  May we remind you:

·        NO waste to be left at the collection point in the absence of the freighters & their operators.  Unattended waste left at the collection point, will be considered to have been “fly tipped” & appropriate steps will be taken to trace the originator.  There are severe penalties for fly tipping waste.

·        Only household & garden waste can be accepted.  (Special disposal arrangements need to be made for other items such as surplus “white goods”, builder’s waste, florescent tubes & TV screens/monitors.  The freighter cannot accept them)

MSDC – Small Scale Housing

We will report further progress.  We understand that several residents responded to MSDC with their comments.  Thank you.  We are most grateful.  Public consultation for alternative sites closed on 2 October & all submissions will be sent to an independent inspector, who is expected to announce his decisions during August 2007.

Planning

Details of all applications received are prominently displayed on the Council’s notice board.  Any resident is very welcome to make representation about any application at the monthly meeting of the Council, when each application is considered.  If you are writing direct to MSDC on any planning matter it would be appreciated if you would let the Clerk have a copy, so that the points raised can be considered when we discuss the application.

Forthcoming Road Works

Your attention is drawn to forthcoming road works that will be taking place on both Handcross Road & London Road, between mid November & early December.  Advance signage will appear giving detour routes, as appropriate, but preliminary details are displayed on the notice board for information.

Audit for Year ended 31 March 2006.

Information relating to the above has been displayed on the notice board confirming that the accounts for the last financial year were found satisfactory in all respects.  Accordingly they were signed off by the local government external auditors, Mazars.

Youth Club

We understand MSDC has still not found a replacement leader.  Consequently alternative arrangements are being made for the Balcombe members on Thursday evenings.  Please contact Roland Burke (819290) if you need any further information.

Availability of the Clerk

Issue of Rail & Bus passes, green sacks, inspection of current plans etc. each Tuesday, between 9.30 am & 12 noon at 11 Foxwells.  No prior appointment is required for assistance at that time.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THE OFFICE WILL NOT BE OPEN FOR BUSINESS ON TUESDAY 21 NOVEMBER.
