Gritting in Balcombe
Good morning All
Just to let you know about the gritting situation in MSDC area.
At present because the snow is compacted the grit we have been
laying down is having very little effect, however we will continue
to grit a few sites ie top level of the Martletts, entrance to Trinity
road car park and two paths in Victoria park which have steep slopes.
I believe the Leisure centres and halls have made separate arrangements
with CPS.
Some of you may have had requests/complaints etc about the gritting
and the extent as to what MSDC responsibillities are. We only grit
car park areas, mainly around ticket machines. A few paths St Johns
and Victoria park. We do not grit any roads or footpaths, these
are the responsibillity of WSCC.
As for today, the weather forcast seems to be changing by the
hour. latest reports are for rain with a rise in the temperature,
this should help break up the ice. If however it freezes over night
we will have to think again as to if and where we grit.
Please note this is a very expensive operation and the cost soon
adds up. it would be nice to be able to grit at the slightest hint
of bad weather, but we have to be quite selective as to where and
when we grit and sometimes we get it wrong!
