Bowls Club

Come and visit Balcombe's Bowls Club, next to the recreation ground. Friendly and democratic, we've been going since 1921. We now have 6 rinks, 40 players and several social members.

Run by an elected committee, and a do it yourself mentality (we keep our own green and club house in tip-top order).

The green is available to members any time with permission from the green-keeper.

Visitors are assured of a warm welcome.

After a terrific year 2007, it's time to look forward to 2008. Over the winter some of our members have worked hard on the pavilion and green. We have a new roof on the clubhouse, a huge undertaking, as well as on going work around the social area.

Details of Meetings

We play inter-club matches on weekend afternoons, from April until September. Wednesday evening is 'roll-up' time, when we meet for practice and socialising. This year, 2008, also sees the begining of midweek interclub matches.

We play three special Balcombe Bowls Club matches:
The Memorial Cup, in honour of members passed on.
The Anniversary Trophy, and Mac Triples.

Also, we host the Jubilee cup for invited teams.

The Stewart Oxley Cup is organized by Balcombe, and we host the semi-final and final.

The season ends with Captains Day, when we play our own club finals.

Other Events

We have a dedicated fund raising team who organize coffee mornings and other events. Any suggestions for raising funds are always welcome.

First coffee morning of 2008 will be Saturday March 8th in the pavilion

Membership

2008 membership per annum is £10 for non-players, £40 for players.
