Attempted Theft
Dear All,
Mr Paul Mitchell of Old Gilletts, Haywards Heath Road, says thieves
tried to break into a van parked outside his house on Friday during
the day. They attempted to steal a satnav. PLease warn people who
you speak to about opportunist thieves and remind them to lock cars,
vans, garden sheds, garages, windows and doors etc whenever they
are unattended.
|Just to remind you also that Jayne and I will be having a table
outside the craft fayre on Saturday. Call by if you're passing and
spread the word in case anyone else from your scheme wants a chat.
Thanks
Carolyn Robertson
Dear All,
I would like to echo Carolyn's comments and also use this opportunity
to
remind everyone to avoid leaving valuables on display - this includes
items in vehicles as well as items in garages and sheds.
Of the reports that police receive of theft from motor vehicles,
a large
percentage of these are theft of items that have been left on display.
This includes laptops, sat navs, i-pods, wallets and handbags. As
you
will no doubt appreciate, crimes like these are easily avoided by
getting in the habit of removing such items from your vehicle.
The other point to bear in mind is that if you are unlucky enough
to
become the victim of such a crime, you are unlikely to be covered
for
your loss by your car insurance if the stolen items were left on
display.
Remember - it only takes a few seconds for you to remove your
valuables.
Similarly, this is all it takes for an opportunist thief to steal
them.
If you have any questions about crime prevention, please come
and see
Carolyn and I on Saturday.
Kind regards,
Jayne
